Well, maybe not so much fun, but if they do not work you can get yourself into some pretty hot water.
What do you really need to know?
Are we in the black or in the red? Are we growing or declining is size - and that could be segmented into as many categories as you like - and you had better segment if you really want to know the strengths and weakness of your areas of interest.
Two things - have an amazing staff person excellent skills sets in recording and analyzing data or obtain an excellent database that you can manipulate data through excel to obtain whatever data segmentation you want and I believe you are in business.
