Have you ever heard of habits described as "routines that set you free!"
Patrick Lencioni's book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team was one of the very first books I read in my journey in creating a healthy and aligned leadership team. It outlined trust as a need in order to have true debate and constructive conflict. Actually, what blocks politics in growing firms is friendship. It is the decision of the team members to embrace its diversity and be willing to challenge each other in making decisions and exposing the facts.
I was impressed with Xavier University posting leadership prayers on their website and one caught my eye in particular - Let Us Express Our Gratitude. Being thankful happens to be one of my key ingredients for success. Here is the prayer:
Let us ask our Heavenly Father to:
Help us to embrace the challenge and responsibility we have as leaders
To guide us to lead with integrity and common sense
Give us the wisdom to make intelligent decisions
Give us the courage to make tough decisions
Give us the character to make right decisions
I will leave you with that and trust that the decisions I make today and tomorrow will be ones that will be recognized as coming from healthy expectations, trust, and baked in prayer.
